Where to start?

When I start writing a blog post, I always bullet point a few ideas that I know I want to talk about. This helps ensure you’re including everything you need to and want to include.

Throw some ideas around with your team too, they’re likely to come up with something you’ve missed.

And don’t forget, you can’t write an introduction or conclusion before the body of your blog… save that until the end. I always leave the blog title to very last too, and that reminds me…

Grab their attention

You know when you’re aimlessly scrolling through social media and spot those enticing news titles, that you absolutely must click on… that’s what we want for the title of your blog posts. 

You don’t want to spend time writing a brilliant blog post for no one to read it, simply because the title doesn’t resonate with them. Your titles need to be eye-catching and captivating. Do this, and you’ll definitely start seeing results. 

Ask your audience

If you’re suffering from the dreaded writer’s block, I have a simple remedy for you… 

Ask your audience what they want to hear about. Pop a question or poll on social media, it’ll take you a couple of minutes and the results are sure to be well worth it.

Keep them coming back!

Keep it clear, concise and beneficial.

When you provide your audience with content they really enjoy and content that helps them, they will come back for more. They’ll want to know what you’re going to offer up next… so make sure it’s a good’un!

Make it easy to read 

Try to break up your content into small paragraphs with bold headings.

This makes it easier for people to scan through, read the highlights and get the content they are most interested in… quickly!

Plus, subheadings are also beneficial when it comes to SEO.

What’s the next step for your reader? 

Make sure you’re giving your audience a clear and obvious call to action (CTA).

Do you want them to sign up for your blog alerts? Do you want them to follow you on social media? Or do you want them to read something else you’ve written?

Tell them what you want them to do… and hopefully, they’ll do it.

Add some value 

It’s all well and good creating brilliant blog posts, but to keep your audience engaged you need to give them something more.

A downloadable version of the blog that they can keep in their files and share with colleagues, a template for whatever you’re offering or even some bonus content that only they can access. 

Everyone loves some added value, so make sure you’re offering your audience something more.
